Meet the freshman class officers

In Hamburg Area High School, there are class officers for every grade. When students are in eighth grade, they vote for a President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer.

The class of 2026, has an all boys group of officers. Ms. Stauffer, the advisor of the freshman class officers, describes the group as a very fun group of gentlemen. Ms. Stauffer states, “I usually have a mix of girls and boys as officers in the past, but this is the first year that I have had ALL boys.”

As far as their hard work comes, they had a slow start with their first fundraiser, but raised over $1,000 already so the officers are doing fairly well. The group is able to come in during flex periods very often to work and when they do, they work as a team.

The President of the class of 2026, Kameron Dreibelbis, states, “It feels amazing to be class president because it gives me an important job, and it means I need to watch over the grade and our fundraising.” It does not take as much time as others would think, but it can be timely and sometimes he has to do a little more, but he is perfectly fine with that. Kameron wanted to be class president because he wanted not only an important job, but something that means a lot and affects other people. The decisions he makes could affect everybody in our grade, and that is a big pair of shoes to fill, but he knew that when he signed up, and he was ready for whatever he needed to do to make our fundraisers and events as fun as possible for everybody else. Kameron’s advice to people scared to take a chance and run is, “Don’t be afraid of a little extra work and to be ready to make some big decisions, because the future of the class could depend on you.”

The Vice-President, Harrison Mast, states, “I became an officer to give our class better opportunities for making fond memories — especially in future events like prom and graduation, when the class officers have full control over the events’ planning and execution.” He also believes that the lifelong memories made during high school should be looked back on cheerfully. As a class officer, he gets the opportunity to give that to every person in our class.

The Secretary, Andrew Koval, states, “It feels really good to be class secretary since I am able to be a representative of our class as a whole and be a prime example of how we should and hopefully do act while either at school or in public as a student who goes to Hamburg area High School. I would also have to say that it’s an honor to be able to represent us all as a whole in general and glad that those around me believe in my abilities.” He ran for class secretary not only because he believes in his abilities to work for our class and school as a class officer, but also because he believed his knowledge would be a great deal of help in order to come up with new ideas and fundraisers they could do for the school. Andrew’s advice to anyone wanting to run but is too scared to is to just run and try before they regret your decision. “Nothing bad would happen if this occurred other than slight embarrassment but they at least still tried unlike those around them who either didn’t care or were too scared themselves in order to run for an officer position.”

The Treasurer is John Sharp. He says that being treasurer feels very good, but it can be very time consuming when planning things or doing a fundraiser. His advice for people who want to run but are scared is, “It’s not scary at all, everyone works together and it is a good learning opportunity for anyone.”
