2023 Super Bowl strikes conversations

This year’s Super Bowl was more highly anticipated than most, featuring Philadelphia’s own Eagles and the Chiefs highly anticipated player, Patrick Mahomes, but many are sharing their opinions on the game. A lot claim that the Eagles loss is to be blamed on bad calls, one specifically regarding a holding penalty against the Eagles which allowed the Chiefs to break the 35-35 tie and win. To see how this loss affected the proud Philadelphia patriots, some fans shared their opinions.

On the subject of the refs and calls fairness Will Havens, sophomore, said, “I think the calls were good in the first half. I think they got worse in the second half. People say the calls are why the Eagles lost, but it was mostly about fumbles and bad plays. I did want the Eagles to win. I don’t watch football often but they’re from Philly.” Even while rooting for the Eagles, Will is honest and thinks the team’s strategy was their downfall.

Gavin Kauffman, sophomore, shared, “I wanted the Eagles to win. I think that they should’ve let the very last call go.” Gavin agrees with most Eagles fans that the loss is to be blamed on the ref’s unfair call.

Finally, Mrs. Eshbach said, “I wanted the Eagles to win and I thought the calls were fair but there were a few questionable ones.” Once again adding to the agreement that the refs were not as fair as they could be.

They also shared their opinions on the commercials and halftime show featured. Mrs. Eshbach siad, “I loved Rihanna in the halftime show. I loved that she was pregnant and that she had so much confidence. I also liked that the backup dancers were all in sync and that the stage floated.” The halftime show was a debatable topic, some loved it some hated it, but Mrs. Eshbach was clearly on the side of the Rihanna fans. Gavin Kauffman commented, “I think the Super Bowl commercials aren’t as good as they used to be.” The commercials were another popular topic and many agreed that they were not impressive. Overall, the 2023 Super Bowl overview is debatable in many different aspects, commercials, the halftime show, the calls, but everyone can agree that the Eagles had a lot of support.
