HAHS students pick classes for next year

HAHS students have been facing the task of picking classes for the upcoming school year. For the past month, teachers were told to be talking to students about what classes they would like to take for next year. No matter how early this may seem, it is the same time every year.

Some students are indecisive and are not sure what classes to choose for next year so quickly. This could lead to stress within the school. Shelby Dougherty, HAHS sophomore, said, “It stresses me out because I do not even know what level of classes I want to take and feel like my decision has to be rushed,” showing the stress and anxiousness picking classes so early makes. Feeling too rushed to make a decision could make a student not make the right decision on what class they would want to take. One should be able to figure out in time what classes to take, so one can consider every class to its full extent.

Hailey Quinn, HAHS sophomore, said, “The classes I take are very important and having to decide which ones to take so early can be stressful,” highlighting the anxiety one gets by just picking classes. Some would choose to pick classes not until the end of the year, so the students know how their class went and what to pick for next year.

Some students have a general idea on what to pick for the upcoming year, but there is no definite decision. Shelby Dougherty says, “I know what courses I want to take, but I am unsure about if it should be AP, honors, or PS,” showing that most students are never certain on one specific class.

Overall, many students feel picking classes in the beginning of February to March, is early but it is what the school has teachers and students doing. It causes stress within the school, which causes students to do poorly on assignments from moving different teachers around and retirements every year.
