Teacher spotlight: Ms. Stauffer

Hannah Kristiniak, Hawk Happenings Assistant Editor

This is Miss Stauffer’s ninth year teaching at HAHS including when she student taught. She teaches civics, global studies, and geography. Miss Stauffer went to Lehigh Carbon Community College or LCCC and Bloomsburg University from 2010 until graduating from Bloomsburg in 2014. She also earned her masters degree from Kutztown in 2021. Miss Stauffer majored in Secondary Education, specialization in Social Studies.

Miss Stauffer has always wanted to be a teacher, but around grade four or five, she wanted to be a social studies or history teacher. When she was a kid, she would buy textbooks at yard sales and play teacher with her grandmother. She would even have her take tests. At school Miss Stauffer is also the winter track coach and the freshman class advisor.

Some of her hobbies include kayaking, hiking, playing with her dog Trixie, and currently wedding planning with her fiance. Miss Stauffer is really excited and ready for this next chapter in her life and to become Mrs. Benvenuto in June 2023!

I was a student in Miss Stauffer’s civics class last school year and I enjoyed her class very much. There were so many resources and opportunities that allowed me to be successful. She really has a talent for teaching, and I could not imagine a better career for her. One thing that I really liked from her class is that she had everything online. She had assignments, notes, the textbook and more all on Schoology so that even if a student was not there, he/she could still get the work done. Another thing I really liked was that she would send out weekly agenda emails. I am a planner and I like to have things organized, so having that resource of knowing what we would be completing in class was extremely helpful.
