HASD recognizes military at football game

Armed Forces Night was a special night hosted at the Hamburg Area High School stadium.  Armed Forces Night honored first responders and people in the military. At half time all first responders and military walked out onto the field and got recognized. Their names got called, including their branch of service. Some of them were Hamburg graduates. All of this was made possible by Hamburg’s head of boosters, Brad Valentino.

The Armed Forces Night was planned four weeks in advance. With it being only planned in four weeks, it was hard to get people there due to short notice. This is the first time the Armed Forces Night has been held in three years due to Covid. Even with it being short notice, there were more people there and support than expected. The turn out for the night was mainly expected even though the short notice. To prevent that for next year the date for the next Armed Forces Night is already picked and the date is 9/15.

Clayton Lash, Junior, shared his opinion on the Armed Forces Night. “It was very appropriate and honorable. I feel like it gave the respect people in the Armed Forces and first responders needed and deserved.” He liked seeing how many people came to support and see how many first responders and military personnel we have in our community. “It was also interesting and inspirational to witness how many companies and other personnel volunteered to help support this event.”
