Queen Elizabeth passes

Isabella Forte

On September 8, Queen Elizabeth passed away. The Queen had died peacefully, to natural circumstances in her home. Queen Elizabeth’s death marked the end of Britain’s longest-reigning monarch. The death of Queen Elizabeth has deeply affected the United Kingdom. While the country is in a 10-day period of mourning, the monarch’s death could also slow the economy with double-digit inflation, a risk of recession, and a fall in sterling.

During the Queen’s ruling, she lived in great luxury, and she had made the very most of it. The queen had a love for cars and driving. She had two Bentleys and three Rolls-Royces, with her favorite car being the Land Rover Defender; she owned 30 of these cars in her lifetime.

Mr. Buggy, history teacher, quotes “I think she has been ill for a while, but it still was a shock just because she has been in the english monarchy for 70 years. I think everyone kind of saw it coming, but none of us were prepared for it to be this soon.”

The Queen impacted the world. Although many knew her passing was nearing, nobody expected it to be this soon. When the queen’s reign started, she ruled over seven independent countries. That number grew to 32 nations until the time of her death. Queen Elizabeth ruled over 15 countries in the Commonwealth and 14 more in overseas territories, which are home to over 150 million people. As the Queen had done a lot, many people decided to pay her respects by one minute of silence, and others attended her funeral. It is said that over 4.1 billion people had watched her funeral through broadcast. The Queen had been a symbol seen all over the world. She was known for her humor, as she was seen in the movie “Paddington” having tea with the bear.
