Riley Mohn thoroughly enjoys participating in band at Hamburg Area High School. She has been playing the xylophone/bells in band ever since it first started five years ago. Marching band is also something she is involved in, she gets to play at football games, and the King Frost Parade. Back in 8th grade she participated in an after school music club. The group was called “Wings” and involved playing the guitar, ukulele, and bucket drums. Mohn really loved engaging with her friends in that club and of course learning new instruments and playing music. She says, “I really have a passion and love for music, because it gives me motivation and a sense of ‘I can do this’.” She also enjoys learning and school, she states, “I like the possibilities for everyone to express themselves whether it be musically, physically, or mentally.” She specifically likes HAHS because of the music opportunities, the library, and most of all the community within the school.

Riley is taking three honors classes this year and has good grades in all of them. Some words her good friends would use to describe her are: creative, intelligent, amusing, talented, trustworthy, and artistic. Business Fundamentals is her favorite class because it is her first period which really gets her brain going and ready for the rest of the day and she likes how the teacher teaches. Mohn says, “I’m a fast learner, examples are the best way I do that.” Oddly enough, she also learns best when it is not quiet, when it is quiet she says “I get distracted if I’m not multitasking.” This year she is also in Anime Club, she is looking forward to meeting new people there and to have fun. One of her best friends says, “she is a phenomenal person in general, which makes her a fantastic friend.”
